Title
Dissolving Sugar Cubes
Year
2009
Materials
Sugar cubes, mirror, water
Instruction
Arrange sugar cubes across a mirror.
Allow water to fall gradually onto the cubes so that they slowly dissolve and collapse.
A slight inclination in the mirror may be introduced, but is not required.
The work exists while the cubes are undergoing dissolution and their altered forms remain visible.
It ends when the cubes have lost their structure and become an indistinct residue.
Note
A regular arrangement gives way to gradual collapse on a reflective plane.
The work exists as a temporary relation between order, dissolution, and its mirrored doubling.
